Integra iron oxide pigments are for use in integrally colored concrete and meet or exceed ASTM C-979 requirements. These pigments are pure iron oxides, natural, synthetic or a blend of the two. Carbon Black, though of a high tinting strength, is not represented on this chart because of its tendency to fade. The bags are designed for direct addition to the truck and will completely disintegrate when used properly. When using integral colors in cement CONSISTENCY is very important. The same manufacture of cement should be used for the entire project. All aggregates and sand should be from the same source, and non-reactive or expansive. The slump needs to be routinely measured and kept consistent to a 4-5 inch slump. Placing colored concrete is not extremely difficult, but practices commonly used in working with plain, grey concrete can lead to wide variations in color and consistency of color. If the contractor has little or no experience in working with integrally colored concrete, PLEASE seek assistance.
